Friday, October 28

  • NCTC Play Festival

    • Hosted by Pinecrest High School
    • First shows at 8:30 am, There will be 16 productions over the two days.
    • Pinecrest High School performs Friday at 2:30 pm. Union Pines Friday at 9:45 am, and North Moore performs Friday at 11:00 am and Saturday at 12:15 pm.
    • Open to the public

  • Aberdeen Fire & Rescue Department: Chicken Tender Dinner Fundraiser

    • Dine In, Take Out, or Delivery
    • No drink orders with delivery

  • Horticulture Lecture

    • “Bulbs and Companion Plants”
    • Brent Heath covers all types of bulbs for the landscape, with an emphasis on four seasons of bulbs.

  • Halloween Fun

    • Ages 10 and under can spook, rattle and haunt while trick-or-treating at downtown businesses.
    • At 5:45 all are invited to Downtown Park for a hauntingly good time featuring edible crafts, games, Halloween bingo and more!
    • Come dressed to impress!
    • Rain location is the Recreation Center
    • 5 pm at Downtown Park, Southern Pines.
  • Fall Festival

    • This annual fundraising event for Pinehurst Elementary School offers games with prizes, a train ride, inflatables, costume contest, video games, cakewalk and silent auction.
    • The Kona Ice Truck will be on-site and the concession stand will be open
    • $12 each for first two wristbands, $5 each after two, sold by the Pinehurst Elementary School PTA.
    • Free for adults and kids 2 and under.

  • Trick or Treat Halloween Party at Walker Station

    • Trick or treat through the neighborhood beginning at 6:00pm, followed by a Halloween movie in the community park at 7:00pm.
    • Stacks Cheddar Truck will be available for purchase and we’ll be serving beer from Southern Pines Brewing Company & Railhouse Brewery!
    • 6 – 9 pm at Walker Station, 2090 Midland Rd, Pinehurst.
  • Movie in the Pines

    • Goosebumps
    • Bring a blanket or chairs and enjoy a free movie outdoors.
    • Concessions available for purchase.

    • The Largest NC Indoor Haunted House!
    • The Aberdeen Fear Factory will be open Thursday – Saturday from September 30 – October 31
    • $25 tickets, $22 for groups of 10+ or military ID
    • Tickets are sold from 7 – Midnight, Doors close after last ticketed customers are through

  • Meet the Artist at Work

    • Visit with artist Diane Kraudelt and learn about her techniques and background in art.

  • Pinehurst Oktoberfest and Kinderfest

    • Kinderfest is a fun festival for children and the whole family with carnival games, a pumpkin derby race, entertainment and contests.
    • The fun continues in the evening for adults with German music, folk dancing and games.
    • Admission is free, but advance registration required for the bake-off and derby race.

  • Wildlife and Native Plants Lecture

    • Dr. Douglas Tallamy: “Restoring Nature’s Relationships at Home”
    • Presented by the Village of Pinehurst Greenway Wildlife Habitat Committee and Save Our Sandhills
    • Admission is free, but space is limited.
    • Door prizes. Beer, wine, soft drinks, water and complimentary snacks available.
    • Books and songbird nest boxes for sale.

  • “Moral March to the Polls Rally”

    • The Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II will be the featured speaker at the “Moral March to the Polls Rally” for citizens of Chatham, Hoke, Lee, Montgomery, Moore and Randolph counties.
    • He will address defending the right to vote in N.C., expanding voting rights, race-based redistricting, and other efforts that undermine equal protection under the law.
    • Learn how to get involved in the “It’s Our Time, It’s Our Vote” campaign to make recent historic court victories against voter suppression real at the ballot box.
    • The event is sponsored by Democracy NC, the NC NAACP and the Moore County NAACP, a non-partisan, issues-oriented organization whose mission is to ensure the equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and discrimination.
