  • Sandhills Farmlife Veteran Honor Run

    • A scenic 5K road race and 1 mile fun run leaving from Farm Life School in Carthage in honor of Veteran’s Day.
    • The 1 mile dash will be held at 8:30 am and the 5K Run/Walk will follow at 9:00 am.
    • Organized by the Farm Life School PTA
    • Online Registration is $20 for the 5k and $15 for the 1 mile. Late registration (day of) is $5 more.

  • Chair Yoga

    • Taught by Darlind Davis, ideal for those with chronic conditions, balance issues or lower body challenges that affect the ability to get up and down.
    • Cost: $40 for residents, $80 for non-residents

  • Culinary Tours of the Pines

    • Culinary Tours of the Pines provides walking culinary tasting tours in the Village of Pinehurst.
    • Included in the tour will be stops at The Deuce, the new signature restaurant that overlooks Pinehurst Course No. 2; The Holly Tavern; The 1895 Room; and The Carolina Hotel.
    • At each location guests will be served a specialty small plate accompanied by a craft beer sampling.
    • In addition, your culinary experience will be enhanced with a stop at The Village Wine Shop, a boutique wine shop located in The Village.
    • The afternoon will end with a sampling of locally baked scones from PineScones, a well-known local gourmet bakery.

  • Walk with a Veteran

    • This Veteran’s Day, join area veterans for a walk at Weymouth Woods to commemorate their service and honor their sacrifices.
    • Those with mobility issues are encouraged to socialize with participating veterans at the Visitor Center.
    • Refreshments will be served.
    • Co-sponsored by Team Red, White, and Blue.

  • S.T.E.A.M. Saturday: Artbots Attack!

    • S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Saturday will be held this weekend at the library.
    • Experiment and craft tables will be out all day. From 11:00 a.m. to noon join the Library staff for a special ArtBots event!
    • This program is intended for children in grades K-5.

  • Veterans Day Parade

    • Bring your kids, grandchildren, friends and neighbors to celebrate the men and women who have served in our US Military since WWII.
    • The Veterans Day Parade has something for everyone! Music, military vehicles, fire trucks … ROTC, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts … antique cars, vintage military aircraft flyover by The Bandit Flight Team, and of course … OUR VETERANS!
    • The parade will procede rain or shine.
    • 10 – 11 am in Downtown Historic Southern Pines, Broad Street, Southern Pines.
  • S.T.O.I.C. Veterans Day Oyster Roast Fundraiser

    • Join us for the First Annual Veteran’s Day Oyster Roast at Southern Pines Brewery.
    • All proceeds will benefit STOIC, an organization that provides a training program for transitioning Army Special Forces back to everyday life. STOIC takes a hands on approach to address the changing mental, emotional, and physical needs of these elite war-fighters at a time when they need it most.
    • We will be featuring a silent auction, live local music by Bones Fork and Whiskey Pines, and a bouncy house for the kids.
    • Tickets are $50 per person, $45 for military, kids are free. Your ticket includes all-you-can-eat oysters, a low country boil, sides, and beer.
    • Full Moon Oyster Bar & Seafood Kitchen and Southern Pines Brewery are sponsoring this event.

  • SCC Jazz Band Veterans Day Concert

    • The Concert will recognize and celebrate America’s veterans of all branches and all conflicts.
    • Musical selections by this highly-regarded group will feature patriotic music and big band jazz standards, along with the “Armed Forces Salute,” a tribute to all the military branches.
    • Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. No tickets are required and there will be open seating.

    • Dogs can sniff all the latest news, there is plenty of exercise to be had. Kids love the discovery room! Parents love the combination of play and exercise for children. Naturalists love to focus on the flora and fauna. Everyone loves a walk in the woods!
