I often talk about Pinehurst as if the Village and the Golf Resort and Country Club are one in the same. And visitors to the area may come to the same conclusion. However they are two distinctly different entities that work well together.
The Pinehurst Resort began in 1895 by James Tufts. It has 3 hotels, 44 Villa Rooms, and 30 condos. There are 9 – 18 hole golf courses including the famous Pinehurst No.2 golf course. There is a public golf clubhouse with the Donald Ross Grill for dining, and a private members club with locker rooms, dining and meeting rooms.
In addition to golf Pinehurst offers 24 tennis courts on which the North Carolina State USTA league championships play yearly. There are social tennis matches as well as competitive area league play and tournaments. There is also a separate club house for tennis which has a pro shop and locker rooms.
Other resort and country club activities include croquet and lawn bowling. There is also a luxurious spa and several restaurants owned by the resort within the Village of Pinehurst including the Carolina Hotel’s main dining room and Rider Cup lounge, those previously mentioned at the clubhouse, and the Holly Hotel as a formal dining room as well as a more casual grill.
Most restaurants are open to the public except the Members Club. Members often have discounts to the Pinehurst Resort restaurants and spa. Membership is available to property owners only.
The Village of Pinehurst which is home to the Pinehurst Resort and Country Club is nestled in the Sandhills of North Carolina about an hour south of Raleigh, NC. The Village is approximately 14 square miles and has around 12,000 residents.
In the center of the Village close to the Pinehurst Resort are a selection of boutique shops and restaurants as well as professional offices and residential houses.
Outside the main village area is a wide range of housing opportunities including condos, single family homes, golf front homes, water front homes, and the gated community of Pinewild. Homes are available in a wide variety of prices. Pricing of condos can be less then $100,000 and single family homes pricing starts in the low $100,000 range and goes up to well over a $1,000,000 with a large selection in between. The average selling price of homes in Pinehurst is around $280,000 though that number fluctuates between $250,000 and $350,000 monthly. Find all Pinehurst Area Homes.
The Village of Pinehurst also offers an excellent health care system including First Health of the Carolina’s Moore Regional Hospital. There are many physicians offices with a wide range of specialties. And there is also an excellent fitness facility owned by the hospital with memberships available to the public in Pinehurst and surrounding areas.
Nearby to Pinehurst are many other shopping opportunities, restaurants and professional services. So whether you are visiting the Pinehurst Resort and Country Club or you are a resident of the Village of Pinehurst there is an abundance of shopping, dining, outdoor activities as well as health and professional services.
