Pinehurst NC Real Estate Community Spotlight on McLendon Hills Equestrian Community.
McLendon Hills started developing in the mid 1990’s and the first house was completed in 1999. The developers had a vision of a lake surrounded by homes and small mini horse farms surrounding the perimeter of the property. The entire development is about 600 acres and there is approximately 6 miles of trails for property owners and their guests to ride their horses.
McLendon Hills is just over 10 miles from the Village of Pinehurst and just two miles from the Seven Lakes business district with area shops, doctors, dentists and restaurants. The developer is dedicated to creating and sustaining a comfortable yet slightly upscale community and has built his own custom home on the lake.
The lake is approximately 80 acres and 60 feet deep at the deepest spot. It is great for fishing, swimming, and kayaking. Small electric powered boats are allowed on the lake. Gas powered boats would be harmful to the lake because of its size. The lake front lots start in price at around $150,000 and they go up to around $275,000 depending on the location and size. Most of lots are around an acre.
If you want a lower price lot and still live in this lovely community there are “interior” lots which are mostly 1 acre in size. You could get a very nice lot in the range of $49,000 – $80,000 with some higher in price depending on the size and views.
And finally their are the mini-farm horse properties. They are usually 3 acres or more and some are owned by equestrians and some purchase the larger lots to have more privacy. The properties are adjacent to the riding trails and the price of these lots start at $106,000 and go up to $198,000. Here are some links to the available properties.
