This past week at the Foxfire Country Club near Pinehurst was the 19th Annual NC Agriculture Greater Goodness Grows Open Golf Tournament.
Using both courses at the Foxfire Country Club just minutes from Pinehurst – NC Agriculture had its annual Greater Goodness Grows Open Golf tournament on September 14th and 15th. Over 100 players were expected for the 14th and over 230 for the 15th. All players were of amateur status.
Many of the participants are involved in growing food or processing of food from and/or in North Carolina. Some of the participating vendors also invited their customers to enjoy this golf tournament with them. This event helped to bring awareness of the NC farms and business that participate in the Goodness Grows label. The use of this label on their foods has to be approved by the NC Department of Agriculture.
In addition to the golfers scattered around the courses there were also vendors who participate in the Goodness Grows program with free food available to the players. There were food growers as well foods processed using NC Agricultural products and restaurants who also participate in the Goodness Grows label program.
This event is good for NC Agriculture and our local area as it brings business to the Pinehurst area and Foxfire Golf and Country Club and awareness for the Goodness Grows label program.
