Mark your calendar for March 22-25 to celebrate the arts with the Palustris Festival in the Pinehurst /Southern Pines area of North Carolina.
There will be approximately 100 events in 30 venues over a four day period. Polustris is the Greek word for longleaf pines and Southern Pines is home to the oldest living longleaf pine tree. So Polustris is the appropriate name for celebrating the visual, literary and performing arts in the Pinehurst/Southern Pines area. The festival is presented by the Arts Council of Moore County.
There will be a variety of events that are free to the public as well as some with a low ticket price being offered. There will be literary readings, art exhibits, tours and lectures, musical performances, photography exhibits, theater, and film throughout the 4 day period. Check the Polustris Festival’s Website for a complete list of events.
On Wednesday, March 21 will be the second annual Polustris Festival Gala sponsored by the Southern Pines Rotary Club. This will be a formal cocktail party at Belle Meade in Southern Pines and tickets are $50.00. There will be performances by artists participating in the festival and tickets can be purchased at the Country Bookshop in Southern Pines or at the door of the event. The address is 100 Waters Dr., Southern Pines.
Pinehurst isn’t just for golf, and you can find a variety of ways to celebrate the arts in the area during the Palustris Festival this month country wide.
